Management at the Ignalina plant in Lithuania has finally signed a contract for instrumentation and control systems on a second shutdown system at Ignalina 2. Ironically, the project will start shortly after the Lithuanians agreed to shut down the 1500MWe reactor in 2009.
Data Systems & Solutions – a joint venture between Rolls Royce and Science Applications International Corp (SAIC) – will supply the systems. SAIC supplied a similar system at Ignalina 1.
