In a contract valued at r37 million, Siemens is to supply HVAC equipment for the two Russian-designed units now being constructed in China.
The Tianwan plant, being constructed by Jianwin Nuclear Power Corporation and the Russian design organisation Atomenergoproject, comprises two evolutionary VVER-1000s, known as ‘NPP-91’ units, which are due to start up in 2004 and 2005, respectively.
The scope of supply for the HVAC equipment includes fans, ventilation units, air heaters, refrigeration, filter systems, fire dampers, containment isolating dampers and non-return dampers. The contract with Siemens also includes supervision of installation and commissioning work, along with training of maintenance personnel. In all, some 5200 components are involved, and Siemens says it will use sub suppliers from China, Germany, the Netherlands and Switzerland.
