Vattenfall discuss partnerships in UK

17 March 2009

Vattenfall is in discussions with other utilities about constructing one or two nuclear power plants in the UK. Currently Vattenfall does not have any partnership however according to its CEO Lars Josefsson the company is "looking at that seriously."

Josefsson told Reuters, "Right now we don't have any partnership but we are exploring partnership at the moment...I cannot give you any details on that. But it is relatively near-term thing for decisions – this year, anyway."

Most of Europe's utilities formed joint ventures in 2009 to construct the UK’s next generation of nuclear plants but Vattenfall has yet to join them.
