Dounreay PBO Competition events: 5 February 2010 and 9 March 2010

17 December 2009

The Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA) has announced the dates for the Dounreay Parent Body Organisation (PBO) Competition Industry Event. The two day industry event will commence in Caithness on the 5 February 2010, and be followed by a second day in Glasgow on the 9 March 2010.

The key aim of the event will be to allow prospective PBO bidders to understand local stakeholder perspectives and provide an update on the emerging contracting and procurement strategies for the competition.

The first day of the Industry Event will be hosted by the Dounreay Stakeholder Group in Caithness on the 5 February 2010, with support from the NDA, and will provide prospective PBO bidders with the opportunity to meet with local stakeholder groups. Delegates will hear about the potential socio-economic impacts of the closure of the Dounreay site on the local area and opportunities for their mitigation. Information on supply chain and workforce capabilities, regeneration work already underway and prospects for partnership working will be available.

Graeme Rankin, the competition project manager, said: "This two-part Industry Event has been designed specifically to ensure that prospective bidders are as fully briefed on both the competition itself, and the views of local stakeholders as possible. We are looking forward to continuing our engagement with bidders, and to what promises to be an interesting few days."
