Pakistan’s 325 MWe Chasnupp 2 connected to the grid on 14 March.
The pressurised water reactor, operated by the Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission, is predicted to begin commercial operation on 20 May this year, according to the IAEA Power Reactors Information Service database.
The reactor’s prime contractor was China Zhongyuan Engineering Corp, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Chinese National Nuclear Corp. It was also the prime contractor of Chasnupp 1, which began commercial operation in 2000.
CZEC said first concrete was poured on 28 December 2005.
