Exelon is to buy 16 nuclear fuel reloads from Westinghouse for its Dresden 2 and 3 and Quad Cities 1 and 2 BWRs.

Westinghouse has been supplying fuel for Exelon’s PWRs, Byron and Braidwood, since the 1980s. For the BWRs it will supply SVEA Optima2 assemblies, a design that is mostly provided to European customers from its production facility in VästerĂ¥s, Sweden. The Exelon reloads will be fabricated in Columbia, South Carolina. The first BWR reload will be delivered to Quad Cities 2 for loading in 2006.
