A law setting out a legal framework for the construction of the country’s first nuclear power plants has been adopted by the Turkish parliament, local media reports.
Under the terms of the legislation, the energy ministry will the tender for the construction of nuclear plants and will determine both the size and location of any new facilities.
The Turkish government plans to build three nuclear plants with a combined capacity of about 5 GW.
