Westinghouse fuel for Exelon

1 October 2003

Exelon is to buy 16 nuclear fuel reloads from Westinghouse for its Dresden 2 and 3 and Quad Cities 1 and 2 BWRs.

Westinghouse has been supplying fuel for Exelon's PWRs, Byron and Braidwood, since the 1980s. For the BWRs it will supply SVEA Optima2 assemblies, a design that is mostly provided to European customers from its production facility in Västerås, Sweden. The Exelon reloads will be fabricated in Columbia, South Carolina. The first BWR reload will be delivered to Quad Cities 2 for loading in 2006.
