Russia’s Atomstroyexport has signed a contract with Jiangsu Nuclear Power Corporation (JNPC) for the preliminary design of Tianwan NPP, units 3&4, to be built in Lianyungang city, China.
Under the new agreement Russia will build two additional units at Tianwan NPP in China
The units will be 1060MW Russian VVER-1000s, like Tianwan 1&2, which were commissioned in 2007. Design and delivery of the equipment for the non-nuclear part of the plant will be the responsibility of JNPC.
The agreement was signed 27 September by president of Atomstroyexport Dan Belenkiy JNPC general manager Jiang Guoyuan. It follows on from a 2008 memorandum of understanding between Rosatom and China National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC) to cooperate in the second stage of construction of Tainwan NPP and demonstration fast reactors.
