Preparations have begun for concluding contracts for the manufacture of equipment for Russia’s planned Primorsky NPP – the main elements of the reactor compartment, turbine hall, melt trap and other systems, according to the communications department of Rosatom’s Engineering Division.
Open competitions are also being prepared to carry out a number of works: on vertical planning and the import of inert materials, the arrangement of a temporary camp for the builders of the Primorsky Nuclear Power Plant and others. It is expected that specialised regional enterprises will take part. The development of design documentation for the Primorsky NPP is expected to be completed by the end of 2026.
The construction of the Primorsky NPP is included in the list of measures for the accelerated development of the Far East in accordance with instructions from the Russian President. The power plant will be located in the Ussuri urban district, near the village of Krasny Yar and the Razdolnaya River. The project provides for the construction of two standard, time-tested power units with VVER-1000 reactors for a total installed capacity of 2 GWe. The start of the active phase of construction is scheduled for December 2027 – laying the concrete base of the reactor building foundation. The launch of the first unit is planned for 2033and the second for 2035.
