British Energy has reached an agreement with the UK’s Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA) to market power from the NDA’s ageing Magnox reactors over their remaining lives.
The NDA’s Magnox nuclear stations Wylfa and Oldbury are forecast to generate approximately 7TWh per year over the life of the agreement, which is expected to last until 2011.
Mark Leggett, NDA commercial director, said: “The agreement provides the NDA with certainty and confidence in the continuity of trading services with a service provider that understands the complexity of managing and trading nuclear output.”
