The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) said in a post on X that it hadbeen informed that an employee of the Zaporizhia NPP (ZNPP) was killed by a drone attack. The victim was reportedly a welder at the plant’s centralised repair workshop. IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi said any attack on nuclear plant staff is completely unacceptable. He called again for maximum military restraint to help prevent the risk of a nuclear accident during the conflict.

ZNPP said on its Telegram channel: “We regard what happened as yet another targeted attack on the staff of the ZNPP. Such attacks are directed not only against specific individuals – they are intended to intimidate the plant’s workers, to create panic and tension among those who ensure the daily safety of the largest nuclear facility. Any actions directed against the personnel of a NPP create additional risks to nuclear safety and are absolutely unacceptable…. This is a heavy loss for all of us. The family of our colleague will receive all the necessary help and support.”
