China Techenergy has won a contract to commission the control and reactor protection system for units 5&6 of the Yangjiang Nuclear Power Station.
CTEC will install its proprietary reactor protection system for the first time at Yangjiang 5&6, which it described as a "significant breakthrough."
The company - a join-venture between Hollysys Automation Technologies, Ltd and China General Nuclear Power Corporation (CGNPC) - will also install its Distributed Control System, HOLLiAS-N DCS, which has already been used at Hongyanhe 1 and Ningde 1.
The Yangjiang Nuclear Power Station in Guangdong province is being funded and built by a consortium of power corporations led by China General Nuclear Power Corporation. The plant is built to have six 1GW pressurized water units. Units 1-4 will be based on the CPR-1000 technology, with units 5&6 using the ACPR-1000 design.
"As the only qualified local automation and control technology provider to the nuclear industry in China, Hollysys will leverage the strategic alliance with the largest nuclear builder and operator in China to further penetrate the nuclear automation and control market both in China and internationally, to create value for our shareholders," said Changli Wang, Chairman and CEO of Hollysys.
CTEC has orders for 14 reactors: Hongyane 2-4; Nigde 2-4, Yangjiang 1-6 and Fangchenggang 1&2. There are currently 28 units under construction in China.
