Uzbekistan’s nuclear authority, Uzatom, and Rosatom have launched a joint engineering school aimed at training highly skilled personnel for Uzbekistan’s nuclear energy sector. The initiative was formalised through a trilateral agreement signed by Uzatom, Rosatom, and the Russia’s National Research Nuclear University (NRNU) MEPhI [Moscow Engineering & Physics Institute].
According to Uzatom’s press service, the “Advanced Engineering School” will open at the Tashkent branch of MEPhI and serve as a key platform for educating specialists who will support Uzbekistan’s emerging nuclear industry. Uzatom Director Azim Akhmedkhadjaev and Rosatom’s Deputy Director General for Human Resources, Tatyana Terentyeva, met in Tashkent to discuss comprehensive plans for workforce development, including training programmes linked to the construction of Uzbekistan’s first NPP.
The parties also presented the development strategy of the Tashkent branch of MEPhI for 2025–2026, which outlines strategic educational and scientific priorities.
In addition to higher education, the collaboration aims to build a sustainable personnel training system that begins at the school level and includes professional retraining and internships at Rosatom facilities. Opportunities to integrate digital technologies into education and human resource management were also discussed.
