On 13 November the Bundestag, the lower house of the Federal parliament, agreed to the amendment of the German nuclear law which should assist the industry in making progress on the back end of the fuel cycle, particularly in completing the investigations of the Gorleben salt dome as a possible radwaste repository. It will also help industry to continue work on the advanced European PWR design being developed with the French.

The opposition is claiming that the amendment is not allowed by the German constitution and will, therefore, take a case against it to the Federal constitutional court.
