The function is to provide the services of nuclear process engineering staff to the Dounreay Site Restoration Limited project team. Initially one process engineer will be required, but as the project grows, we anticipate that further process staff will be required to support Dounreay Site Restoration Limited eg Senior Process Engineer.

The typical work function and skills of the process engineer will be:

A minimum of 5 years experience of sludge and effluent treatment processes. In depth understanding of nuclear industry RHILW projects with similar wet waste streams would be a distinct advantage;

To assist the senior process engineer with the management of the scheme design for the shaft and silo sludge treatment and effluent treatment areas and the development of the sludge process mock-up;

A working knowledge of Process Modelling and flow balance systems would be beneficial;

The position is part of the project team for the duration of the scheme design phase. The candidate can be based at their normal place of work, however the requirements of the post require attendance at Dounreay for a minimum of 25 per cent of time and 25 per cent travelling to design consultancies etc;

A hands on approach is required in support of the projects trial facility within Caithness, as well as a willingness to engage and share information within the project team and be an ‘ambassador’ for this high profile project.

The contract duration is 11 months with an option to extend annually for a maximum of 3 years.
