SMR model displayed in Houston by Last Energy

26 March 2024

US microreactor start-up Last Energy has displayed a prototype of its nuclear reactor module in downtown Houston, Texas.

The module was hung vertically from a crane outside of CERAWeek energy conference.

The nuclear island is a central component of Last Energy's broader 20 MWe power plant design, which is completely modular.

Last Energy claims it can be built within 24 months, and sized to provide direct power to industrial offtakers such as data centres and car manufacturers.

The prototype will next be displayed in Washington DC. Last year it was displayed at a business conference in Poland.
