A call for tender for an EC project is expected to be issued in April. Details are below.

Contract description:

The project covers:

— ageing management of passive and long-lived electrical and I&C equipment,

— environmental qualification of electrical and I&C equipment.

The overall objectives of the project are:

— transfer to the operating organisation 'Eletronuclear' the concept of ageing management (AM) and of environmental qualification (EQ) according to the best international practice,

— enhancement of nuclear safety at Angra-1 NPP by elaborating/revising (parts of) the ageing management/environmental qualification for electrical and instrumentation and control (I&C) equipment, according to applicable regulations and good international practice.

The project involves the following main tasks:

— development of a comprehensive framework for ageing management,

— analysis of international approaches and tools for AM and for EQ,

— analysis of existing plant programmes and approaches for AM and for EQ of structure and components (SSCs) in Brazilian NPPs,

— development of recommendations for AMPs and tools for Brazilian NPPs,

— development of recommendations for the revalidation of time limited assumptions used in EQ for Brazilian NPPs,

— elaboration of a general framework for AM and for EQ for Brazilian NPPs, capable of encompassing and structuring the programs specified below and suitable for future expansion,

— development/revision of programmes for electrical and I&c Equipment at Angra-1.

Budget: maximum budget: 2 000 000 EUR.
