UK-based Cavendish Nuclear has secured a contract in Canada to provide consultancy services to support licensing of a used fuel transportation package and assessments for long-term used fuel storage.
Cavendish Nuclear, which is part of the Babcock International Group, was contracted through a strategic partnership with Calian Nuclear, a Canadian nuclear solutions provider. It said work is already underway against the scope, which includes the delivery of fuel burn-up calculations and specialist nuclear materials assessments to underpin the relevant safety cases.
“As a leading player in the nuclear industry in the UK, we look forward to being able to apply our knowledge and expertise in these areas in Canada as future opportunities come to market,” said Mike Whalley, president of Babcock Canada.
