The Argonne national laboratory has won a $35 million contract from the US Department of Energy to decommission and demolish two facilities, and continue the disposal of TRU waste disposal.
The DOE has also announced $11 million of support for three projects: 1. ATLAS facility for the increase of beam intensity, increase of superconducting linac performance and augmentation of the helium distribution system; 2. National Nuclear Data Center for the completion of new mass chain evaluations and post-doctoral students hiring and training to address staffing shortages of the U.S. Nuclear Data Program; and 3. Science Laboratory Infrastructure – Replacement of Panel Board/Transformer 138V substation transformers, breakers and switches as well as modifications of existing overhead lines and the replacement of approximately 130-480V and 120/208V panels and approximately 100 distribution transformers in an Argonne National Laboratory building.
