27 October 2009

The Nuclear Energy Institute has elected engineering executive George Nash Jr. to its board of directors. Nash is president of the power business unit of URS Corp.’s Washington Division, $4 billion global engineering, construction and management firm.

Nash leads the overall operation of the business unit that provides engineering, design, construction, modification and maintenance services for nearly all types of commercial fossil-fuelled and nuclear energy generation sources in addition to transmission and distribution operations. He manages a work force of more than 2,000 people responsible for project operations, safety, quality, finance, human resources and business development.

Nash has more than 25 years experience in a wide range of operational and executive positions, including lead engineer, field construction engineer, operational executive and business development executive. Before joining Washington Group International a decade ago, Nash was director of business development for Stone and Webster.

All US nuclear plant licensees and selected representatives of other companies involved in nuclear technologies are members of the NEI board of directors.
