Westinghouse to supply I&C upgrade

28 February 2001

Westinghouse Nuclear Automation has announced that Dominion Energy has issued a purchase order for an initial-phase I&C upgrade programme for Surry 1 and 2.

The order includes supply of SPIDER plant computers and Advant communication networks as well as a digital rod position indication replacement, and additional hardware and software options to enhance operating performance.

Michael Comiskey, senior vice president for Westinghouse Nuclear Automation, said that the purchase is significant because it demonstrates Dominion’s commitment to move toward an integrated digital I&C system.

The upgrade work is scheduled to be completed by October 2003.
