Waterford 3 simulator to be upgraded

30 March 2001

Entergy have selected CAE to upgrade its simulator at the Waterford 3 plant. This contract represents the third time an Entergy nuclear plant has chosen CAE’s simulation products.

The order involves replacing the simulator’s primary models to increase fidelity and performance. The model to be used for the reactor’s primary cooling system, ANTHEM2000T, is a two-phase thermal-hydraulic model with a graphical user interface that simplifies model maintenance. For the reactor core physics, COMETT is a reactor kinetics model that has been deployed on a large number of simulators worldwide. The upgraded models are due to be developed, delivered, integrated with the balance of the Waterford 3 plant models and validated by December 2001.
