SPDS approved for Russian unit

3 April 2002

A safety parameter display system (SPDS) developed by Data Systems & Solutions has been accepted for pilot operation at Novovoronezh 5 in Russia. It is the company's third successful installation, commissioning and acceptance of an SPDS through the International Nuclear Safety programme.

The Novovoronezh 5 SPDS monitors over 2000 plant parameters through a data acquisition system and through interfaces to existing computer systems at the plant. Several thousand parameters calculated each second are used to determine the status of seven critical safety systems. The SPDS host computers provide access to all SPDS information via workstations that are located throughout the plant, and also provide access to critical data for a crisis centre in Moscow.
