SPbAEP completes VNIPIET acquisition, gets new name

Following completion of its acquisition of Russian research and design institute VNIPIET, Russian nuclear engineering company Atomenergoproject has a new name as of 1 July: Atomproject.

The company said over the past year the two companies occupied 40% of the Russian nuclear market and had a RUR 60 billion (EUR 1.28 billion) order book. At the end of 2013 revenue was RUR 22.7 billion (EUR 483 million), up 30% year on year, according to the company. The combined company now has 3000 people under director Sergei Onufrienko.

It performs complex design work of nuclear facilities, and R&D of new nuclear energy technologies. The Company designs and new dividing radiochemical production and nuclear power plants with all types of reactors, provides project support for nuclear facilities (nuclear facilities) at all stages of the life cycle. It is also the developer of Leningrad 2, Beloyarsk, Baltic NPP, Belarusian NPP and Tianwan NPP.
