Russia signs contract for Koodankulam equipment

A contract signed on 12 February by Atomstroyeksport and the Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited (NPCIL) and has paved the way for work to start on component manufacturing for the Koodankulam plant.

Since the agreement, Izhora works in St Petersburg has signed a contract with Russia's Atomstroyeksport to manufacture equipment worth $5 million for the plant. The two companies plan to sign the first subcontract for the supply of reactor and steam generator housing, internal mechanisms and main piping systems for the plant's two units in March, although work on long lead time items began in December last year.
