Reload transition less than 1 year

28 February 2001

Siemens Power Corporation (SPC) has completed delivery of the first reload of nuclear fuel to Fort Calhoun under a new contract. The delivery was made 10 months after the contract was executed in March 2000 with the plant owner, Omaha Public Power District (OPPD).

Nuclear fuel reloads are typically delivered approximately 18-24 months after contract execution. All engineering necessary for the transition, including safety, neutronics and mechanical design documents, will be completed in time to support the Fort Calhoun outage scheduled to begin on 17 March, 2001.
