Radwaste complex approved

1 February 2002

The use of a new radioactive waste treatment, conditioning and storage complex at the Kozloduy plant has been approved.

The project was started in 1992 and the final cost of the construction work is estimated at around $4.1 million. The plant is currently implementing a licensing programme.

The complex consists of a radwaste treatment workshop, a conditioned waste storage facility and a service unit at the Kozloduy site. It has two separate lines for handling liquid and solid radwaste.
