Possible extension for ANO 1

30 April 2001

The application for a 20-year licence extension of unit 1 at Arkansas Nuclear One has been endorsed by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) in a safety evaluation report last month. A separate environmental impact assessment report by the NRC is expected soon.

If the recommendation is approved at an NRC meeting in June the Entergy owned and operated plant will become the sixth US unit to receive a 20-year extension after Calvert Cliffs 1 and 2, and Oconee 1, 2 and 3.
