NRC urges review of probes

The Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) has urged PWR licensees to review their bobbin coil probe analysis procedures for inspecting steam generator tubes.

The NRC said Comanche Peak 1 did not pick up on several indications of stress corrosion cracking in bobbin analyses conductedwhile investigating the source of a primary-to-secondary leak. NRC said that the flaws were found "fortuitously", because the operator did a more comprehensive examination.
