Ling Ao 1 reached full power on 21 April. It is China's fifth operating nuclear power unit.
Ling Ao 1 was first connected to the grid on 4 February, and commercial service was initially scheduled for mid-July. However, officials said that the start date for full commercial operation will now almost certainly be brought forward to June.
Unit 2 is scheduled to begin commercial operation in March 2003.
