BNFL Sellafield has installed Cimage NovaSoft’s eBusiness application for nuclear plant management. The package is designed to manage critical information throughout a plant’s lifecycle, from design and build to operation and maintenance and decommissioning.
Cimage Nuclear uses data models and a template designed specifically for the industry alongside existing IT investments. It exploits low-cost Internet communications and browsers to improve communication internally and across the supply chain. Planning, engineering and operations personnel have continuous access to current data wherever they are located, right through to decommissioning. This makes regulatory compliance easier and ensures that information is not lost when staff leave.
“We were the first BNFL site to have a fully developed, fully-integrated drawing management, control and delivery system,” said Mel Gould, records and information manager at BNFL Sellafield. “From anywhere in the UK I can have a drawing up on my PC screen in a couple of minutes.”
