Crack at Duane Arnold

27 February 2007

A refuelling outage at Duane Arnold, a 630 MW BWR in Iowa, has revealed indications of a 17cm circumferential crack in a recirculation nozzle weld.

Owners FPL Energy plan to repair the flaw with a weld overlay, but gave no indication if the issue would extend the planned outage.
