Asia’s crisis will not affect reactor deal

The financial crisis affecting Asian economies will not affect financing for two nuclear plants currently under construction in North Korea, the US Department of State believes. South Korea and Japan are providing most of the financing for the twin nuclear plants through the multi-national Korean Peninsula Energy Development Organization (KEDO). Their ability to foot the bill was put under a question mark in December when the State Department sought assurances in the wake of the Asian financial difficulties.
