Arkhangelsk construction

30 November 2001

The authorities in Russia's Arkhangelsk region have decided to resume construction of a nuclear power plant, frozen for 10 years following protests by ecological organisations. The decision was made because of the complex situation with respect to energy supplies in the region. Refurbishment of the heat only BWRs will cost R15.5 billion ($530 million).
