AMEC wins Urenco contract

The international engineering and project management company, AMEC, has been awarded a three-year contract to provide a full range of nuclear services to enrichment company Urenco UK.

Urenco UK operates three uranium enrichment plants at its site in Capenhurst, near Chester in the north west of England. The site has a production capacity of 5,000 tSW/year, according to Urenco UK.

The contract will be operated from a number of locations in the UK and Clive White, Vice President of AMEC’s nuclear business, said: “This is a very important contract for a major player in the UK nuclear industry and will help develop our position as a leading provider at the front end of the nuclear cycle, to complement our strong position in reactor support and clean up.”

The value of the contract has not been disclosed.
