Thursday, February 27, 2014 by Tecnatom

Tecnatom has been awarded a contract for the diagnosis of motor and air-operated valves, and for the maintenance and functional testing of snubbers, to be performed during the refuelling outages at units 1&2 of the Laguna Verde nuclear power plant in Mexico. The award comes in response to an international call for bids published by the Comisión Federal de Electricidad.

"The work will be carried out during March and April, at unit 1, and June and July at unit 2"

The work will be carried out during March and April, at unit 1, and June and July at unit 2. The Tecnatom technical team will be aided by the support personnel of our partner in Mexico, Grupo IAI.

During the project, a total of 112 motor-operated valves and 15 air-operated valves will be diagnosed. In addition, maintenance and testing of the snubber will include 250 such components.

The award of this project constitutes a continuation of the valve diagnosis and snubber maintenance services performed by Tecnatom at Laguna Verde units 1&2 since 2009 and 2005, respectively. The company has been involved in nine refuelling outages at the Mexican plant. Furthermore, in recent years Tecnatom has become a preferred supplier of valves and spares for Laguna Verde, having achieved several significant contracts for the supply of these type of components.
