Three contracts for New Areva

New Areva said on 18 December that it had signed three contracts in recent months totalling nearly €9m ($10.6m) for the treatment and management of radioactive waste at sites belonging to the French Alternative Energies and Atomic Energy Commission (CEA) in Fontenay-aux-Roses (Ile-de-France region) and Cadarache (Bouches-du-Rhône region).

Russia’s Rostov 4 achieved criticality on 6 December. The 1011MWe reactor designed by Gidropress and built by Atomstroyexport, both subsidiaries of Russian state nuclear corporation Rosatom, will be the last in Russia's series build of VVER-1000 units, which comprise 13 of Russia's 23 operating power reactors.
