Russian nuclear fuel company TVEL has signed a contract with Haykakan atomayin elektrakayan to supply nuclear fuel to the 440MW Amenian nuclear power plant.
The contract covers supply of fuel assemblies for the next reload, as well as reserve fuel for two years.
The documents were signed during the visit of TVEL president Natalya Nikipelova and a delegation to Armenia.
“TVEL offered its Armenian partners increased energy security and favourable commercial terms for nuclear fuel supplies thus confirming the high level of our long partnership and mutual trust,” said Natalya Nikipelova, President of TVEL, JSC.
Metsamor 2 is Armenia's only operating nuclear power plant, supplying around 40% of the country's electricity. Rosatom said it has been supplying fuel assemblies for the unit since 1995, without any fuel failures.
