Sweden-based Studsvik Scandpower, has signed a second contract with the Russian nuclear fuel producer JSC TVEL increasing the scope of delivery of software and related services. The value of the contracts, signed over the last two months, total SEK 38 million ($4.6 million).

The first contract signed in February and valued at SEK 25 million will see Studsvik deliver software licenses and fuel licensing methodology for during the first half of 2018. Software maintenance, consultancy, and training services will be provided during 2018 and into 2019, under the March contract, worth SEK 13 million.

Studsvik said the orders build on its "significant investment" in software and licensing methodology by Studsvik Scandpower in prior years. The first contract will produce a profit of approx. SEK 17 million, according to Studsvik.

TVEL, a subsidiary of Russia's Rosatom is one of the leading manufacturers of nuclear fuel, supplying fuel to 76 commercial and 30 research reactors in 17 countries. TVEL has been working to break into fuel markets for Western nuclear reactors and has signed a deal to deliver PWR fuel to Ringhals in Sweden from 2021.
