Russia’s All Russian Scientific & Research Institute for Nuclear Power Plant Operation (VNIIAES) is upgrading the full-scale simulator (FSS) it supplied to unit 1 of Iran’s Bushehr NPP, the institute said. The simulator was commissioned for pilot operation in 2010, a year before start-up of the unit 1 reactor. VNIIAES explains that there are two stages in design and delivery of FSS: the stage of "freezing" the input data, which allows timely delivering the simulator to the customer, and the stage of upgrading where actual data on the power unit are made available. During "freezing", the calculated design data, as well as the data of reference power units, are used as input data. After the power unit has been commissioned the FSS is upgraded using test results obtained during start-up and adjustment.
Meanwhile, Moscow’s architectural engineering Institute Orgenergostroy has been ordered by Atomstroyexport (part of state nuclear corporation Rosatom) to produce an engineering design of the construction and installation support facility for the planned units 2 and 3 of the Bushehr NPP. Rosatom’s procurement website put the contract price is RUB89.980m ($1.2m). The work is to completed by 31 December. The contract for the pre-construction phase of the new units was signed in November 2014 by Nuclear Power Production and Development Company of Iran (NPPD) and Atomstroyexport, which will be architect general. The total installed capacity of the second stage of the power plant will be 2,000MWe comprising two 1,000MWe reactors.
