According to the press service of the Zaporizhia NPP (ZNPP), the armed forces of Ukraine damaged the communication line between the open switchgear of the nuclear and thermal power plants. “As a result of this damage, the Ferrosplavnaya-1 power line is not supplying power to the station.” they said.

As a result, the external power supply to the station is provided only by the Dneprovskaya power line and specialists are investigating the exact location of the damage and the amount of work required. Repairs will begin as soon as the operational situation allows. ZNPP said the two high-voltage power supply lines significantly increase the stability of the plant’s power system. The early return of the second line is also crucial for ensuring a reliable heat supply to the plant and the city of Energodar during the winter season.

Zaporozhye regional governor Yevgeny Balitsky said on his Telegram channel: “As a result of the artillery shelling, the communication line between the open switchgear of the nuclear and thermal power plants was damaged.” He added that power from the second power line ensured the safety of the power units and that background radiation was normal.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov noted that International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) observers are silent about the fact that the Ukrainian Armed Forces are responsible for the attacks on ZNPP. “I will mention the Zaporizhia nuclear power plant, where IAEA observers have been present for a year, if not more. Every time the Ukrainians bomb the facilities of this nuclear power plant, the IAEA observers shamefacedly say that they do not know where these drones and shells came from. This is wrong,” he said.

Separately, the ZNPP press service reported that the repair campaign at the plant, which lasted throughout 2025, is successfully coming to an end, and all scheduled works have been completed in full.
