Russia’s HMS Group, has been selected to supply the high/low pressure emergency injection pumps, spray water pumps and intermediate cooling water pumps for units 3&4 of the Tianwan nuclear power plant in China. The contract is worth $22.5 million.

The pump systems produced by HMS Group for the nuclear power industry have also been installed on a number of Russian and overseas power plants, including Rostov, Kursk, Leningrad power stations, Tianwan 1&2 (China) and Kudankulam (India).

CEO of HMS Group, Artem Molchanov commented: “I’m pleased to say that we continue our steady international expansion in the target overseas markets. Winning the international bidding for a direct contract with Jiangsu Nuclear Power Corporation demonstrates our proven track record and competitiveness in the technologically demanding areas with the strict safety requirements.”

In November 2010, Russia’s Atomstroyexport and Jiangsu Nuclear Power Corporation signed the general contract for Tianwan 3&4, two 1060 MWe VVER-1000 reactors. JNPC will design and deliver the balance of plant equipment. The Tianwan 3&4 project is included in China’s 12th five year plan (2011-2015), but with new construction in China currently suspended the expected dates of construction start and completion remain uncertain.
