The seventh in NEI’s series of PLIM + PLEX meetings will take place in New Orleans, USA on 13-14 October 2003, at a time when life management issues have become a top priority for the industry.
Described by previous participants as a “unique” and “truly international” forum to exchange experience in the field, the 2003 meeting’s location at the Hotel Monteleone French Quarter, New Orleans, will allow delegates to learn directly from US nuclear operators. But the keynote of the meeting will, as always, be sharing experience with colleagues worldwide.
Since the PLIM + PLEX meeting started in 1991, it has played its part as major developments like steam generator replacement have become routine — albeit large scale — maintenance tasks. It has been a forum to raise concerns over the industry’s future, asking how expert staff can be trained and retained by the industry. And it has brought plant operators together with researchers working on important ageing mechanisms like embrittlement.
That’s why NEI’s meeting — described as “the benchmark meeting on world PLIM + PLEX efforts” — is still valuable to all in the nuclear industry.
