An automatic protection operation was triggered on the morning of 25 October at Unit 2 of Hungary’s Paks Nuclear Power Plant following a control system failure. The incident temporarily reduced the unit’s electrical output by 57 MW.
According to plant operator MVM Paks Ltd, the fault was promptly corrected and operating staff restored the reactor to nominal output. The Hungarian National Atomic Energy Authority (HAEA) confirmed that safety was not compromised and the event had no environmental impact.
The authority continues to monitor the plant’s condition and performance, ensuring transparency in reporting any operational disturbances.
