Framatome ANP has won a contract with Finnish utility Teollisuuden Voima Oy (TVO) to supply Atrium 10 fuel assemblies to the 870MWe BWR Olkiluoto 1. Framatome ANP (previously Siemens) has supplied fuel for Olkiluoto since 1983. This contract is worth around $18 million. The fuel assemblies, including fuel channels, will be delivered between 2002 and 2004.
Olkiluoto was the world’s first reactor with a complete Atrium 10 core. Now, Atrium fuel assemblies are used in BWRs of various sizes throughout Europe, Asia and the USA. Atrium 10 is Framatome’s exclusive fuel offering for the European market, and is slowly replacing Atrium 9 in the USA.
