Finnish utility Teollisuuden Voima Oyj (TVO) reported that, in line with a previous notification, electricity generation of unit 2 of the Olkiluoto NPP has been driven at a lower power level of 735 MWe to reduce the risk of failure. This is because TVO currently does not have a generator in stock. The corrected spare part rotor is expected to arrive in Olkiluoto in early 2026.
“As a result of conservative analyses, the plant unit’s electricity generation will continue at a lower power level of 735 MWe, until a completely new rotor has been obtained. The full power of the plant unit is 890 MWe.” A completely new and technically improved rotor is expected to arrive at Olkiluoto in time for the 2027 annual maintenance. Previously TVO had announced that the lower power level would continue until the 2026 annual service.
