Wardrop snaps up ACI Engineering

12 May 2009

Canadian engineering consultancy Wardrop has acquired Vancouver, British Columbia-based ACI Engineering, a firm of 14 employees specializing in electrical engineering and project management with a specific emphasis on electrical power systems.

This acquisition expands Wardrop’s integrated service capabilities with immediate benefits to both Wardrop’s Mining and Energy Divisions. The terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

“This is a natural acquisition for Wardrop,” said Shayne Smith, President of Wardrop. “ACI and Wardrop have worked closely together over the years. This new level of integration broadens our collective electrical capabilities and we are now even better positioned to serve national and international clients.”

“This acquisition is a win-win situation for both parties,” said Malcolm Cameron, President of ACI. “For Wardrop, it consolidates all engineering disciplines under the same roof in Vancouver, and for ACI, provides access to new clients and opportunities across Canada and abroad, not only in mining, but also in the energy sector.”

Wardrop employs 1,100 workers. It was recently acquired by Tetra Tech, a leading provider of consulting, engineering, program management, construction and technical services.
