Rosatomflot and Turkish shipyard sign contract for nuclear icebreakers floating dock

Russia’s FSUE Atomflot and Kuzey Star Shipyard Denizcilik Sanayi ve Ticaret Anonim Sirketi (Turkey) signed a contract on 7 June for the construction of a floating dock for Project 22220 universal nuclear icebreakers. The contract value was RUB4.981 billion ($69m).

“The signing of the contract is an important step in the implementation of the coastal infrastructure preparation programme for servicing the universal nuclear icebreakers of project 22220,” said Atomflot General Director Mustafa Kashka. “The Turkish shipyard has the necessary competencies and has a decent reputation in the shipbuilding market. According to the terms of the contract, construction, including the delivery of the floating dock to the port of Murmansk, will take 29 months.”
