On June 3, during the St Petersburg International Economic Forum, Rosatom and Russian State Space Corporation Roscosmos signed a cooperation agreement which defines key areas of joint activity, in particular on the issues of import replacement projects, inter-sectoral transfer of technologies, development of technological and market cooperation in implementation of promising projects.
The two companies agreed to develop cooperation in digitalisation, ecology, and broadening the potential of science and technology. The transfer of technologies, as well as exchange of know-how and competences in these areas will help the two science-intensive sectors to obtain synergy from cooperation and create new solutions to effectively implement joint projects.
The following day at the forum, Rosatom signed a broader memorandum of cooperation with Rostelecom, Gazprom Neft and Roscosmos for the establishment of an Association of Russia’s biggest consumers of software and equipment. This will focus on the development of the Russian IT solutions market. “Today, the nuclear industry and other backbone industries face important government tasks that require breakthrough solutions in the field of information technology,” said Rosatom Director General Alexey Likhachev. “Rosatom is already taking important steps to create and implement them; we have developed best practices that we are ready to share with other market participants. On the other hand, it is important to consolidate the efforts of large customers, which is necessary to ensure that the market for IT products is replenished with competitive and truly in-demand programs and equipment. That is why we initiated the creation of a professional consumer community, which, I am sure, will become an effective tool for the development of the domestic IT market and will help systematise and develop cooperation between suppliers, customers of IT solutions, as well as government regulators.”
